Handbuilt, using a method of stacking thin, pinched coils, this piece has a wonderfully tactile surface. The rhythm of a pinched and coil piece is slow, both visually and literally. Quiet undulations and intentional pinch marks give the piece an intimate and vulnerable presence. This particular piece has a full, roundness- taking up space in an unapologetic manner.
I coat all my woodfired pieces with mineral oil, this helps to saturate the surfaces and gives the pieces a luminosity.
As you use your woodfired piece they notice the surface beginning to look dry, this is the pot asking to re-oiled, think if it as in invitation to spend time with and build a relationship with the piece.
