Woodfiring is an homage to the unpredictable, the primal, and the beautifully imperfect. Driven by the pursuit of form, I craft vessels that search for the expressive potential of clay.
In my work and processes I look for moments of tension and release. This allows for dynamic and spontaneous creations that speak to our human desire of touch, intimacy, and relation.
Clay and wood-ash have cyclical lives; movement and fluidity turn into stone and stillness and back again. By using these materials I can capture expressive moments in time that exist beyond what my hands can control.
