When I teach a pottery class my goal is for every student to leave with an increased understanding and appreciation for the ceramic process. I give hands-on, individual instruction specific to each student's needs and skill set. I cover technical skills both on and off the wheel, discuss strategies for finishing forms, and provide insightful views on how a student can develop their work. Our goals are to make considered, well-crafted forms that are both technically accomplished and aesthetically pleasing.
I have taught a variety of skills and ages and always enjoy the atmosphere of a classroom studio. Clay is such a dynamic, exciting material and I relish every opportunity to share my passion. I view working with clay as a holistic practice- that means talking about how objects impact our daily lives as well as demonstrating proper body positioning to ensure an ergonomic workflow.
